Range Penalty

Mechanic in Red Algorithm

As the projectile (a bullet) travels, its velocity drops. This is simulated with the so-called range penalty in this game. Many weapons have a significant drop in damage after the 2nd half of the maximum range. The penalty often equal to a value from 25 to 50%. Because of this mechanic, for relatively weak weapons with short-range, like pistols and SMGs, shooting at a close distance is much more effective. Weapons with a splash, such as plasma and various launchers, don't have such a penalty at all. Perk Long Distance Shooter can reduce the velocity drop effect.
