All monsters have four types of armor: physical (1), fire (2), energo (3), and bio (4). You can see the monster's resistance when he appears for the first time by looking at the number of lines on the colored shields. One line means 25% resistance, two 50%, and three 75%. Spawners usually have even more resistance than the monsters they produce. There are 4 special perks (Physical Suppression, Fire Suppression, Energo Suppression, and Bio Suppression) that reduce monster resistance by half, which is very helpful in the mid and late game. Hero, however, has only one type of armor (resistance), the physical one, and all monsters have only one type of damage.
